Animation Bootcamp

School of Motion - Spring 2021

Animation Bootcamp is a 12-weeks intensive course that is all about achieving organic motion design animation. Not only did I learn to understand the 12 principles of animation, but I was also able to utilize them through various projects.

Before starting the course, I had very little knowledge about how things moved and relied on easy ease shortcuts. Now, I am fully fluent in using the graph editor to create simple yet attention-grabbing animations.

All About That Frame

Sometimes, animation is not about creating fluid movements, but more so interesting motions. Here are two completely different types of animation that both play with frame rates. With “Ministry of Eye Control”, the goal is to bring your eyes across the screen using connecting motions. While “Scrapbook Elvis” uses a low frame rate to convey a handmade, stop motion like feel.

Be the Ice Sculptor

As the final challenge of Animation Bootcamp, I was tasked with animating a 1-min long video. The project has been storyboarded and timed with a voiceover soundtrack. My job as the animator was to connect the dots and (to put it in plain words) add in the motion! This was a fun and challenging project that had me put all my learnings into use.
